Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is particularly helpful with difficult to treat mental health conditions, such as borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, PTSD and substance use that occurs in combination with these conditions. DBT is a skills-based form of therapy that focuses on mindfulness training, recognition and tolerance of strong emotions, and strategies for interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is effective in reducing self-harm behaviors and decreasing conflict in relationships. The heart of DBT is on both acceptance and change - accepting how one feels in the moment AND developing tools for change.
