Solution Focused Brief Therapy
The focus of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is on the present and future, rather than on the past. The client is encouraged to create a vision for the future and then work collaboratively with the therapist to identify and develop the skills and resources needed to achieve that vision. SFBT is goal oriented and of short duration. The aim is to develop realistic solutions to current circumstances as quickly as possible, in order to provide lasting symptom relief. SFBT is useful as a stand alone intervention for certain circumstances and concerns, and is often used in conjunction with other treatment modalities.
