Often in counseling we spend a lot of time supporting clients to resolve pain, create positive change and become more self reflective.

There are also times that therapy helps support clients who are coming to terms with their own mortality.

Making the most meaning when they consciously remember daily that their time is limited with their family and friends.

Below are a number of simple ways to live a meaningful life with whatever time we have left --weather it's a lot or a little.

  1. Gratitude

Wake up each morning expressing the gratitude you can feel for what is working in your life. Express love and gratitude to those you care about. Often we think about it, but we don't actually say it out loud to our friends and family.

  2. Write

Write Letters of appreciation to those you love. Say the things that have not been said. And even say what has been said. Letter will live on forever.

  3. Experience Nature

Get outside in the sunshine and nature. Listen to the wind in the trees. Feel the way the sunshine informs your body and mood.

  4. Take Notice

Notice all your senses through Mindfulness. Your sight; your smell; your touch; your hearing; feel your breath

  5. Release Unnecessary Drama

Rise above any drama... ask the question "in a day/ week/ month will this topic even matter?

  6. Keep A Diary of Your Life

Write about what you have learned so far on this Life's Journey. Don't wait to write your memoir. When you are no longer here there will be people who will feel the love and comfort of knowing about your experiences and learning's.

  7. Design Your Legacy

Ask what you'd like to leave behind when your life comes to an end.
